This is a great example of one of James Shoolbred's occasional tables and as an original are quite rare and very hard to come across.

Below the square walnut top which has a nicely moulded edge, the table has four tapered splayed legs which are finely pierced.

The table has a very useful lower tier, which one could use for books or magazines, with all four sides having an open fret work gallery.

James Shoolbred & Co were established in the 1820's at 155 Tottenham Court Rd, London, W1. They became famous for designing, manufacturing and selling high quality furniture. In the 1880's Shoolbred had opened London's first large department store as suppliers of furniture at Tottenham House, on Tottenham Court Road.

Shoolbred's was granted a Royal Warrant by Queen Victoria in 1885 as supplier's to the royal household and as testament to the excellent design of aesthetic furniture and other high quality pieces.

Please note that this table has an impressed stamp mark of J.A.S. Shoolbred & Co and is numbered 7 6 4 7, plus has an original makers plaque of James Shoolbred & Co. As per photo.
