This picture is one of a serious and this one is titled : Landscape with forms ( Blue with green ) dated 1964.
The picture is signed , titled and dated to the reverse and is an oil on board.
After the second world war in 1946 Patrick Venton studied at Birmingham College of Art where he met Zena Hitchings a fellow student, who later became his wife.
Venton would later be apointed to teach at both Birmingham College of Art and in London at Heatherley's College of Art. Although he was encouraged by friends and peers to exhibit his great works, he never did and he only sold four pictures in his life time.
More recently in 2006, nineteen years after his death, Venton's work has been the subject of a major retrospective, which unveiled a large unknown body of paintings and renewed intrest and appreciation of his life and his work to collectors.
Rendered in motley blues and punctuated with blocks of green and orange. This abstract work of Patrick Venton's is one of a series of works based on the rock formations that he observed during his trip to the Isle of Scilly.
